Horefti Elina

Dr Elina Horefti joined the Diagnostic Department of HPI in 2002. In 2007 she was appointed Technical Supervisor of the Measles & Rubella National Reference Laboratory, and in 2008  the Laboratory’s Quality Assurance Manager. Since 2013, she is an assessor for the Hellenic Accreditation System. She has been an active member of the SARS-CoV-2 Laboratory since January 2020.  Her responsibilities include the development of molecular methods for the diagnosis of viruses and parasites and the yearly accreditation of the Laboratory according to the ISO15189 requirements.  Dr Horefti’s research activities are based on the study of infectious diseases. She is highly experienced in the following laboratory methods: cell culture, bright-field and confocal microscopy, FACS, seroneutralization, cell transfection (electroporation, lipofection), ELISA and real-time PCR. She is a fluent speaker of english and french and  an accredited user of Windows and Microsoft Office Word/Excel/Powerpoint/Access. She has 17 publications in peer-reviewed international journals of high impact factors such as Eurosurveillance and Nature.
