Mani Iliana

Iliana Mani graduated from the Medical School of the Democritus University of Thrace in 2012. She earned a master’s degree in “Resuscitation” and a PhD degree in Medicine from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. After she completed her residency in Internal Medicine, she started working as an Attending Physician in the 2nd University Clinic of Internal Medicine at the General Hospital of Athens “Hippokratio”, while she is actively participating in the clinical and educational activities of the university clinic up to the present.

Regarding her research work, it mostly focuses on liver diseases. In particular, the majority of her publications refer to the investigation and evaluation of biomarkers for the diagnosis, staging and prognosis of acute and chronic liver diseases, with emphasis on liver cirrhosis and its complications. In the same field, her thesis, titled “Evaluation of the clinical significance of bacterial DNA detection in blood and ascitic fluid using real time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) in hospitalized cirrhotic patients with suspected infection”, studied the clinical application of newer molecular techniques in improving the prognosis of cirrhotic patients. In the field of Hepatology, she has published research papers and reviews in Greek and international journals and presented numerous works at Greek and international conferences.

She has completed the Hepatology School of the Hellenic Society for the Study of the Liver, while currently as a member of the society participates in the educational program of the Hepatology School as a teacher and she is a member of the website committee. Additionally, she participates in multicenter clinical studies on new pharmaceutical agents in liver diseases.

Furthermore, she is active in the field of resuscitation, serving as an instructor in the Hellenic Society of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation in the training programs Advanced Life Support (ALS), Generic Instructor Course (GIC) and Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS) since 2015. She is also teaching in the postgraduate program “Resuscitation” in National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

In addition to her clinical and educational work, Iliana Mani is a reviewer of scientific articles in a significant number of journals in the field of hepatology and internal medicine.
