Dr. Theodora Katsila is a Senior Researcher and Group Leader at the Institute of Chemical Biology, National Hellenic Research Foundation (NHRF), where she leads the Biomarker Discovery & Translational Research Lab. Leveraging the IN3 “tri-modal innovation engine” framework, integrating in silico, in vitro, and in vivo approaches, her team repurposes drugs, advanced materials, and smart systems, leveraging proteoforms to highlight digital and molecular translational biomarkers. The lab focuses on extracellular vesicles/ particles as they serve as both translational biomarkers and functional tools in bioengineering and biocompatibility assessment. Dr. Katsila’s work has produced pioneering computational and experimental pipelines, all aimed at accelerating TRLs. She is a prolific author, editor, and speaker; a recipient of corporate grants; an award-winning scientist; and a co-inventor. She received the 2023 Rosalind Franklin Society Special Award in Science and was highlighted as Humans of HUPO (2023). Dr Katsila served as a G2MC steering committee member and co-led the G2MC FHH flagship project, and she serves as a Marketing and Outreach Committee member for Human Proteome Organization.

In addition to her research and training activities, Dr. Katsila is a member of the Advisory Board of the postgraduate program “Biomedical Methods and Diagnostic Technology”, with a focus on diagnostic methods and advanced technologies.
