Badounas Fotis is Staff Scientist at the Hellenic Pasteur Institute in the Laboratory of Transgenic Technology and Molecular Genetics. He is technical responsible at the transgenic technology lab. He has participated in studies of preclinical evaluation and drug development against rheumatoid arthritis in humanized animal models and in large number of research protocols using laboratory animals for the study of infectious diseases, autoimmune and neurodegenerative diseases.

Technical conduct responsible in preclinical evaluation of drugs on in-house models of human diseases studies in terms of high quality services or research collaborations to the national and international research community and pharma. He is FELASA accredited EU Function A + B + C + D modules 20, 21, 22, 23 in mouse and rat species in designing and carrying out procedures and projects on animals. He has developed and established all cryopreservation techniques in order to create a cryo-storage archive of mutant strains (cryopreservation of mouse embryo and sperm) at the Hellenic Pasteur Institute. Member of the International Society for Transgenic Technologies (ISTT), Biosafety officer of the Hellenic Pasteur Institute and member of the Scientific Network of Experts in Histopathology of the International Federation of Biomedical Sciences (IFBLS). He has participated as speaker, instructor and coordinator in many national and international educational programs regarding the use of animal models in research.
