Birtsas Vassilios

Vassilios Birtsas graduated from Technological Educational Institute of Athens, Department of Medical Laboratories, holds a Master’s Degree (M.Sc.) in Transfusion and Transplantation Sciences from the University of Bristol (UK) and a PhD from the School of Medicine from University of Athens. He currently works at the National Organization for Medicines (EOF) in Athens, Greece in the Department of Laboratories. At the same time is an Academic Scholar in the Department of Biomedical Sciences of the University of West Attica (UNIWA). In the past he has worked in private and public Medical Laboratories, both in Greece and abroad as well as in universities, as a Laboratory Associate. The taught subjects – in undergraduate and postgraduate levels – included Hematology and Blood Transfusion. He has publications in scientific journals, and participation in conferences, workshops, symposia, as a speaker and member of an organizing or scientific committee. His scientific interests include Transfusion and Transplantation sciences and Microbiology Quality Control in medicinal products (pharmaceuticals, medical devices etc).
