Dr. Konstantinos Ninos is currently an Associate Professor at Biomedical Sciences Department of the University of West Attica in Athens – Greece. He was born in Athens in 1978 and graduated from french High School Lycée Leonin in 1996. He graduated in 2002 from the Department of Electronic Engineering of the Technological Educational Institution of Athens. He also received his Postgraduate diploma (MSc) in Data Communication Systems (School of Engineering and Design) in 2004 from Brunel University (London – UK) and his PhD diploma in 2015 from the University of Patras in the area of digital signal and medical image processing and pattern recognition. He participated in various EU funded research projects and his research interests are focused in three parallel sectors:
a] In the modern network technologies and in network system applications in which exchange informative systems and digital data processing are included.
b] In medical image analysis using pattern recognition methods.
c] In the development of medical imaging detectors.
Furthermore, Dr. Konstantinos Ninos has so far 42 publications in Journals and Conference Proceedings according to Scopus database (https://www.scopus.com/authid/detail.uri?authorId=24723279700) and is the author of two books in the field of Biomedical Sciences, namely “Pattern Recognition Methods in Medical Images” and “Bioinformatics”. Both were published in 2020 and were assigned as study material to the students of 8th, 6th and 1st semester of the Biomedical Sciences department. He is an elected member of the General Assembly of the department of Biomedical Sciences representing the sector of medical labs. In 2019-2020 tenured member, in 2020-2021 elected first in number of votes and in 2021-2022 elected second in number of votes. Next, in 2022-2023 was elected as Director in the section of Medical Laboratories. Finally, Dr. K. Ninos is a founding member of the research lab “Reliability and Quality Control in Laboratory Hematology” (HemQcR) which belongs in the section of Medical Laboratories of the Biomedical Sciences department, Faculty of Health Sciences and Welfare, University of West Attica, Athens, Greece.
