Born in 1964, Athens Greece. Dr Vivi Miriagou is a Research Director and Head of the laboratory of Bacteriology of the Hellenic Pasteur Institute (HPI). She has received her Bsc (Biology) in 1987 (University of Athens) and, in 1997, her PhD in Microbiology (University of Thessaloniki). In 2001 she hasjoined the Laboratory of Bacteriology ofHPI and,since 2006,she was appointed researcher responsible for the activities on antibiotic resistance. Her research interests include the genetics and biochemistry of beta‐lactamase‐mediated resistance and the investigation of the clustering, expression, and mobilization of resistance determinants. She has 123 publications in peer‐reviewed journals and she has been appointed on the Editorial Board of three internationalscientific journals.
