Sirinian Charoula

Dr. Sirinian attained her BSc (Hons) in Genetics from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, and then continued her postgraduate studies on Molecular Medicine at the University College of London. During her PhD at the Pathology Department of Patras University Medical School of she focused on cell cycle regulators in B-cell Lymphoma. At the same time, she was employed as a Research Assistant in the Laboratory of General Biology of the Medical School at the University of Patras, studying cell cycle regulatory mechanisms at the cellular level.

The last 13 years, as a research associate at the Molecular Oncology Laboratory at Patras Medical School, her research interests are focused on breast cancer biology, initiation, progression, and metastasis. She is actively investigating new proteins with a role in breast cancer aggressiveness and metastasis, and she is looking at the role of novel signaling pathways that affect breast cancer initiation and development. Her postdoctoral research was funded twice by the State Scholarships Foundation – IKY Fellowships for Postgraduate Studies. In addition, her work has been presented in major international breast cancer congresses (St.Gallen, IMPAKT, ASCO, San Antonio) that define the guidelines of therapeutic approaches in breast cancer.

In addition, she was trained as a short-term Fellow for six months in the laboratory of Cancer Immunotherapy and Cell Engineering (Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, NY, USA), on CAR-T cells technology and generation of tumor-targeting human T lymphocytes from induced pluripotent stem cells.

She has performed duties as adjunct Academic Staff in the School of Sciences and Technology at the Hellenic Open University in under- and post-graduate courses.

Dr. Sirinian has published over 20 papers in international peer-reviewed journals with more than 1000 citations and has participated in numerous conferences as guest speaker.
