Andreas G. Tsantes was born on 20/05/1993 in Athens, Greece. In 2018 he received the Degree of Medicine (MD) from the Medical School of the University of Ioannina, Greece. In September 2022 he received the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece following the successful defense of his doctoral thesis entitled “The role of Rotational Thromboelastometry in prediction of thromboembolic disease and transfusion requirements in patients undergoing major orthopedic procedures”, and he is currently a Postdoctoral researcher of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens from December 2022. He is also completing his residency program in Laboratory Medicine of the Oncological Hospital “Saint Savvas” of Athens, Greece. His teaching experience includes several lectures in postgraduate programs, such as the “Molecular Medical Biopathology” postgraduate program of the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (lecture series on “Molecular Techniques in Hematology”), and the “Biomedical Methods and Technology in Diagnosis” postgraduate program of the Department of Biomedical Sciences of the University of West Attica. His research work is mainly focused on the fields of Laboratory Hematology – Blood Transfusion and Microbiology. He has co-authored 90 published articles (first author in 28 articles [31 % of published articles]) indexed in PUBMED, with an overall Impact Factor 358,1 (average Impact Factor /per publication 3,98) and numerous citations (Google scholar: >1000, h-index: 18 – Scopus: >750, h-index: 15). He has also co-authored 2 book chapters, while he has participated in 45 oral and poster presentations in Greek scientific meetings, and in 45 oral and poster presentations in international scientific meetings. Moreover, he has given numerous lectures as a guest speaker in Greek meetings on various topics within the field of Laboratory Hematology-Blood Transfusion. He has received 10 awards in Greek and international scientific meetings. Moreover, he is Guest Editor of the Special Issue entitled “Infectious Diseases: Emerging Diagnostic Methods, Updated Treatment Protocols and New Antimicrobial Agents” in “Biology” journal , and of the Special Issue entitled “Neonatal Sepsis: Current Insights and Challenges” in “Frontiers in Pediatrics” journal. Finally, he is a member of several Greek and international scientific societies (Greek Microbiological Society, WAIOT [World Association against Infection in Orthopaedics and Trauma], Greek Society of Medical Mycology) and is also a reviewer in 22 international scientific journals (Scientific Reports, Plos One, Microorganisms, Tropical medicine and infectious diseases).
